Discover the Camargue in 3 days: what are the must-see places?
The Camargue is a region full of riches. If you only have 3 days to visit it, you'll have to make some choices. Find out which places are not to be missed during a 3-day weekend in the Camargue.
Day 1: Pont de Gau ornithological park

The Camargue Regional Nature Park is renowned for its landscapes, flora and fauna. People come from all over France to see its salt marshes and pink flamingos! For a very short 3-day stay in the Camargue, the Pont de Gau ornithological park is the place to go for the best overview of the Camargue region's natural wealth.
The Pont de Gau ornithological park can be explored on foot. A visit can easily take a whole day! Walk along its 7 km of landscaped paths and admire the many species of birds that roam freely in the park, including the famous pink flamingos. In the evening, stay to watch the sun set over the park. A magical experience!
Day 2: Aigues-Mortes

The fortified medieval town of Aigues-Mortes is one of the most beautiful sites in the Camargue. Don't miss a visit to the ramparts. You'll learn more about the town's past and, from the top of the ramparts, enjoy a magnificent view of Aigues-Mortes and its salt marshes.
Visit also the town of Aigues-Mortes and its two chapels: the chapelle des Pénitents Gris and the chapelle des Pénitents Blancs.
The Aigues-Mortes salt marshes are also well worth a visit. Blue all year round, they turn pink in summer thanks to the presence of a specific type of algae. This is the most beautiful salt marsh in the Camargue Regional Nature Park! You can explore it on foot, bike or quad bike.
If you still have a little time left in the late afternoon, you can take a stroll along the Espiguette beach just outside Aigues-Mortes. With its 10 km of dunes, it offers breathtaking views! Or stay in Aigues-Mortes until evening to watch the sun set over the ramparts.
Day 3: Arles and Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer

On your last day in the Camargue, you absolutely must visit Arles. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Arles is a must-see, with its charming alleyways, small designer boutiques, museums and art galleries, and above all its Roman amphitheatre. Throughout the summer and until the end of September, the streets of Arles come alive with the Rencontres Photographiques.
After a busy day in Arles, you can visit the village of Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer before returning to our hotel. This is an authentic fishing town and charming seaside resort, with its beautiful white houses, Notre-Dame-de-la-Mer church and beaches.
