SLOWLIVING AND ECORESPONSIBILITY

THE LABEL

green key

After 18 months of intensive renovation and refurbishment of the domain, Les Bains Gardians is maintaining its course of gentle transition towards a more reasoned and environmentally-friendly way of operating and consuming.

An initial consultancy audit will take place in June 2024, to guide our structure towards the final audit, with a view to obtaining the Green Key label by the end of 2024. Find out more about our current commitments below.

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT

  • The entire network, and in particular the sewage system, was completely rebuilt - a colossal undertaking. A wastewater treatment plant was built to collect, treat and purify all the estate's wastewater.
  • Our establishment has become a car-free domain. A customer parking lot has been created at the entrance to the premises. Guests are invited to enjoy the beauty of the estate on foot, which is classified as a Protected Natural Site.
  • Electric charging stations have been installed at the entrance to the estate, and are available free of charge to our guests for their vehicles.
  • All our cleaning products are eco-labeled and refillable by self-dosing to limit water, plastic and product consumption.
  • All our water bottles are made of glass, and the water is microfiltered. The use of small bottles in individual format is only available in recycled cardboard packaging. No plastic is used.
  • We favor the use of eco-format refillable amenities products in rooms and common areas.
  • All our bulbs are low-energy LED bulbs.
  • We make our guests aware of the importance of saving energy. Our guests are invited to reduce their water and electricity consumption throughout the site.
  • The majority of our customer communications are digitized on our web app https://lesbains-gardians.bowo.app/‍
  • In an effort to reclaim the site, our landscape gardener Luce Monier works with local flora and lets nature slowly reclaim its rights: non-local flora has been replaced by endemic varieties of plants and trees. We also favor late mowing.

SOCIAL COMMITMENT

  • Our horses are raised and respected in the best possible conditions. They live in semi-liberty on the estate, do not go out for rides more than 2 times a day, are fed organic Crau hay, and do not carry people weighing more than 85kg.
  • As part of our artist residencies, created to support contemporary art and young artists, artists are invited to stay with us and produce works in situ in return for payment.
  • Our employees receive travel allowances when their homes are too far from the domain.
  • Every year, one or two team buildings are organized to thank them for their collaboration.
  • Rooms have been created or completely renovated for seasonal employees, who are housed and fed on the estate.
  • We work with associations that defend the animal cause
  • We support a network of local SMEs that offer cultural and tourist activities for our guests.

ECONOMIC COMMITMENT

  • We make our customers aware of food waste, and breakfast is served as a buffet, rather than by the plate, so that everyone eats their fill.
  • Many breakfast products are reused to make meals for employees.
  • Individual formats (butter, jam, spreads) are avoided as much as possible, while respecting hygiene measures.
  • Our entire restaurant menu favors short circuits, with many products sourced locally in the Camargue, such as Taureau de la manade des Beaumelles.
  • All the products available in our boutique are the result of collaboration with local, independent and committed brands or suppliers, most of whom work with environmentally-friendly products and materials that are Made in France. Non-Made in France products have been designed in factories that respect the working conditions of their employees.
  • In a spirit of returning to the authentic, respecting the DNA of the place, all our furniture and small decorative items have been found by our partner Julie Barrau, an antique dealer in Arles, who favors reuse rather than the production or purchase of new furniture.
