The Camargue and Rhône Delta Festival
The Camargue Festival will be held from May 25 to 30, 2022. This is an opportunity for us to share with you our commitment to this event. A unique moment for our region, presided over this year by Jamy Gourmaud, the Géo Trouvetou from the TV show "C'est pas sorcier".
In 2022, the Camargue Festival puts the sea and oceans in the spotlight
In addition to the unmissable nature outings deployed throughout the region, the sea and oceans will be in the spotlight. Explorer Alexis Rosenfeld has led a major project for UNESCO entitled "Ocean, the Great Testimony". This exhibition will be on display during the festival in Port Saint Louis du Rhône, along with other original exhibits:
- The famous "Wildlife Photographer of the Year" exhibition
- 60 previously unpublished photographs by Camille Moirenc of "the faces of the Rhône".
- Special guests: Fondation Tara Océan, Earthship Sisters, John Jackson...
The 2022 program
For 2022, we're offering an enriched program to immerse you in the heart of the Camargue. Encounters, debates, nature master classes, professional meetings with the 1st Forum du Voyage photos nature... Photography enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice!
Festival highlights
The opening evening will take place on Wednesday May 25 at 7pm, in the gardens of the Tour, in Port Saint Louis du Rhône. Speeches, a vernissage of the photographic encounters and a cocktail reception featuring local produce will be on offer. Also in the Tower Gardens, on May 28, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in sound and theater on an oceanographic vessel. During this experience, called "SPLUJ", spectators are equipped with headphones, and embark on the "Pourquoi-pas" in the company of the Citron Jaune actors. May 28 will also see a lecture-concert based on François Sarano's book Le Retour de Moby Dick, or what sperm whales can teach us about oceans and mankind. A narrator and two musicians will plunge you into the world of cetaceans, against a backdrop of projected images.
The Festival de la Camargue is nearly 130 events!
A photo trail takes visitors through the streets of Port Saint Louis du Rhône. But there are also numerous indoor exhibitions, in the big top of the Bird Village. These include
- The secrets of the abyssby Gilles Martin
- Once upon a nightby Carole Reboul
- The 100 competition prints Wildlife photographer of the year
The Festival de la Camargue also features debates and introductory and advanced master classes. These include sharks and dragonflies: two seemingly distant subjects, but both linked to water. Between the first travel forum, the bird village stands, the kids' village, tradition days and nature outings, you're bound to find an exciting activity to consider. We'll let you take a look at the program to plan your visits.
