Urfée, Flore and Flamette: 3 emblematic mares from the Auberge Cavalière du Pont des Bannes
Charlotte Maurey, stable manager at Auberge Cavalière du Pont des Bannes, adopted three Comtois mares in 2020. 3 sisters named Urfée, Flore and Flamette. These mares, each with their own personality, form the Auberge's Girl Power trio.
Comtois mares
Charlotte Maurey wanted to adopt a Comtois mare, but ended up taking these three sisters with her, completely under their spell. Urfée, Flore and Flamette are Comtois mares, a breed of draught horse originating from the Franche-Comté region of France, highly prized in the carriage driving world, not least for their strength: Urfée, Flore and Flamette have incredible pulling power, which enables them to show off the Camargue region to guests of the Auberge cavalière du Pont des Bannes.
Three sisters with different personalities
According to Charlotte, Urfée, Flore and Flamette all have their own personality: "Urfée is a calm, serene and thoughtful mare, while Flamette is the liveliest, the strongest, but always exceptionally kind. As for Flore, she's very cheerful, sometimes naughty, but always a good listener. All three mares are dominant towards other horses and prefer to be left alone. An assertive trio!
Horse-drawn carriage ride with a Comtois mare
Would you like to ride in a horse-drawn carriage with one of our wonderful Comtois mares? Auberge Cavalière du Pont des Bannes organizes horse-drawn carriage rides in the Camargue for its guests to discover our magnificent region and its flora and fauna. But also to get to know our Comtois mares.
Horse-drawn carriage rides for couples or groups
Our horse-drawn carriage rides are an opportunity to share a romantic moment for two in the heart of the Camargue countryside, for example on a honeymoon or during a romantic weekend. But you can also take a carriage ride with Urfée, Flore or Flamette as a group in one of our 12-seater carriages. For an intimate or convivial moment, an aperitif can even be served in the carriage with a bottle of rosé and a gourmet platter.
An activity accessible to all
Horse-drawn carriage rides with our trio of Comtois mares are accessible to all, even those who are afraid of horses or can't get into the saddle. Our carriages are accessible to people with reduced mobility and to children. They're very comfortable, with a canvas cover to protect you from the wind and sun, and storage space for your bags: all you have to do is sit back and enjoy the scenery to the cadence of our Girl Power mares!
Charlotte Maurey, the experienced guide who has been running the stables at Auberge Cavalière du Pont des Bannes since 2019, is a true enthusiast who ensures that our horses are raised according to the Camargue tradition in semi-liberty. Come and discover our magnificent mares during a horse-drawn carriage ride in the heart of the unspoilt Camargue countryside.
